The heart of Police Central is the Booking Module where
you build a mugshot database using a digital camera
instead of traditional Polaroid or 35mm film. This Booking Module and is required for all installations because it includes the Police Central database engine. This module can be used to build your own custom database entry & search applications in addition to the supplied Booking function.

During booking complete biographical and arrest information is entered directly into the computer and stored along with mugshot photos, including pictures of any scars, tattoos, etc. Fingerprint images can also be attached to an individual’s database record. Once the record is complete, you can print a photo ID or wrist band for the inmate directly from the Booking Module. Many agencies may want to convert existing mugshot photos into digital format with a flatbed or film scanner to eliminate traditional records room costs and simplify searching.

Locating suspects from an eyewitness description is an overwhelming manual task for agencies with many mugshots on file – but not with Police Central. The system is extremely fast, in fact investigative personnel can retrieve records matching a suspects’ description in less than two seconds – even from databases containing thousands of suspects!

Many agencies will find the basic Booking Module sufficient for their needs, but if you collect special data during your booking process you will want to use the Supplemental Booking Information page. This option gives you a second page to collect additional information required by your local jurisdiction. Each data field is customized to your specifications at installation time.

Once you’ve installed a Police Central system, you will want to tap its powerful image database engine for other records purposes too. Use the tools provided with the Booking Module to easily design your own databases for specific functions, such as:

• Local Children’s Registry - photos of school children, along with emergency contacts and medical information can be compiled and instantly accessed for a lost, missing or kidnapped child.

• Staff Photo Database - for both sworn and civilian employees. This can also be used for the preparation of photo-ID badges for all personnel.

• Crime Scene Photo Database - Police Central will manage all crime scene photos by case number, date, photographer, etc. Photos can be reviewed on the PC prior to printing hardcopy.

• Gang Database - Photos of members of gangs or organized crime can be maintained along with relevant investigative information.

One typical "extra" application of Police Central is to print posters for wanted suspects or missing children, complete with photograph and contact information.
